“For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.” (2 Chronicles 16:9).
The eyes of God are searching throughout the entire earth, looking for hearts that are fully His… hearts that will trust Him, and take Him at His Word. What a powerful thought! I remember this verse jumping out at me when I was a freshman in college. I wanted my heart to be a heart that would leap out to God. I wanted to be one that when God’s eyes saw me, He would see a heart loyal to Him. The thought occurred to me that He is always searching for those that would take Him at His Word, and how many people must He pass by because they are perhaps doubters needing more “proof” or visible evidence before believing? We ask God to show us the whole picture when He may be asking us to trust Him with just the next step.
Think about Mary receiving a message that would change her life forever. She would conceive and bring forth Jesus, the Son of God. Mary was young and did not have the entire picture, yet her response was, “God! You have found someone who will take you at your Word”. “Be it unto me according to thy word.” (Luke 1:38b) In other words, “Lord, if this is what You have said, then I believe You!”
God is still looking for people whose hearts are fully His today! The Bible is full of His Words and He is asking us to simply believe.
Taking God at His Word does not mean that we will never have questions, experience fear, or walk through difficulties. The circumstances should not silence our faith. What might God accomplish through us if we stop making excuses and simply trusting Him?
Pray this, “Lord, You have found someone who will take You at Your Word. That someone is me!” May your heart be a heart that will leap out when God sees it!
